Moving to Total Triage – What This Means for You.
Effective from 19 January 2026, Dearne Valley Group Practice will be introducing a new system called Total Triage.

What is Total Triage?
Total Triage means that every patient request whether for an appointment, advice, or administrative help, will be assessed first by our clinical team. This ensures you are directed to the most appropriate care, at the right time, by the right person.

How Will It Work?

You can submit your request online, call us, or visit the practice.

Our team will review your request and decide the best next step: this could be a same day appointment, a future booking, a phone consultation, or advice without needing a visit.

Why Are We Doing This?

Fairer access: Everyone is assessed based on clinical need, not just who calls first.

Safer care: Urgent cases are prioritised quickly.

Better use of resources: Helps us manage demand and reduce waiting times.

From 19 January, please use our online form or call the practice for all requests.

Provide as much detail as possible about your symptoms or query.
